According to a report in the British tabloid The Sun, Tottenham Hotspur may be lining up a move for England midfielder David Beckham.

Apparently, Spurs are set to spend around €45 million (£40m) over the summer in order to challenge for a Champions League qualification spot in the Premier League.

It is claimed that manager Harry Redknapp will set some of his transfer kitty aside for the arrival of former Manchester United and Real Madrid star Beckham.

The 33-year-old is currently on loan at Serie A outfit Milan from MLS team Los Angeles Galaxy, to whom he is due to return in July.

Possibly Beckham's greatest motivation for seeking a loan move to the Rossoneri was to keep his match-fitness levels as high as possible to remain part of the England set-up.

His plan seems to have come good, as he has become the Three Lions' most-capped outfield player since he has been playing regular football at the San Siro.

It is thought that once the current MLS campaign finishes in October 2009, Beckham may seek another loan move to a European club to boost his chances of making the 2010 World Cup Squad.

Tottenham are, allegedly, hoping to persuade 'Golden Balls' to head to White Hart Lane in order to achieve his target.
